What is Working Equitation? Bringing working horse skills together for Any breed, Any Attire, Any Saddle.

Who can participate? Introductory levels up to Intermediate levels for adults and youth, and Adaptive Riding students,

This sport is hosted by our Idaho Oregon Trail Working Equitation Affiliate Organization with the USA Working Equitation...

Our Clinician and Judge for the Schooling Trials is  Cari Schwartz from Oregon City, Oregon returning for our 3rd training clinic. We aim to upgraded our sport locally in order to advance the sport nationally within our Region 1.

Cari is easy to work with and loves working with all ages and levels of horses and riders across the US, Canada and beyond. Be prepared for fun filled and educational Working Equitation weekend.

Cari taught Dressage at the Cross Nations Camp and Cup in July 2022. She continues her education attending WE Judge Seminars, Clinics, the Pedro Torres Academy since its inception, and the USDF ‘L ‘ Judge Program. We are excited to have her continue to train us in preparation for our 2023 licensed show season.

What do you get? You will get two days of excellent training to help you perform in all three phases of the Schooling Trials (schooling show) on that third day. Some folks say, "But I don't want to show!" No worries. Just consider it a little test in a low-key environment where you get to try out your new skills and make errors too. Everyone who has said "I don't wanna" has commented afterward with glee on how fun it was.

The Schedule:

* Friday 9am-4pm: Dressage semi-private (2/pr session) Ride Times will be emailed 2 days prior. $75 per rider/horse combo.

* Friday 6pm-9pm: FREE unmounted Intro to Working Equitation. What it is, how to score and training techniques.

* Saturday: 9am-5pm Ease of Handling Clinic with small groups of 5. Special segment for First Timers. Ride Times will be emailed 2 days prior. $175 per horse/rider combo.

* Sunday: 9am-3pm Schooling Show Trials is Dressage, EOH and Speed. Ride Times and Course Design will be posted and handed out at the end of Saturday. $50 per horse/rider combo.

NOTE: If you enter into the 2 training clinics plus the trials, your fee is $300. Or, you may select which training clinic appeals to you and pay only that fee. Or, you may enter only the trials; and earn your Score Sheet.

Schooling Trials (shows) are great practice for the real thing. Take advantage of this opportunity with our "R" (high) rated judge, and earn that Score Sheet. Dress in appropriate show turnout for your style of riding: English, Spanish or Western. Only 20 horse/rider combo spots available. Deposits confirm your spot. A wait list will become available once the clinic is filled.

$100 Deposit holds your space for the clinics. Full refund less $25 handling fee if the position can be filled from the waiting list or transfer. Otherwise, your deposit is retained.

First deposits get the covered stalls. Only 5 available at $15/night. They are 36 long by 16 wide and can house 2 horses that love each other. Outdoor box pens are $7/night. They are 10x10 rail pens. If you can camp with your horse (containment or high tie), the fee is only $15 for the entire weekend per space. Manure management during dry camping is expected as well as any holes dug by an anxious horse. If you don't have a shovel or manure fork, ask. We do. Thank you in advance.
